Hi there! Thanks for stopping by. Please look around. Take your time and when you find something you like be sure inquire, ask or just do your own research on what you have in front of you. Our very own in-house photographer–Kevin Kent–has taken special care, time and done what he can to give you all the visual details while his lovely wife Karina is hard at work, scouring the Peruvian landscape for the latest and greatest in alpaca fashion. She works hard at making sure that what you see, what you get and what you want is true to your order!
We started this company because we knew this was a type of unique wool that needed to be shared in all it’s common forms–from socks, to gloves, sweaters, women’s capes and so much more! We landed in Chicago to launch our line and we thought it a great place to start. Chicago, also known as the Windy City, is known not only for its marvelous menus, its eclectic culture and awesome architectural feats, but also the cold winters. How often I hear people say . . .
“Chicago, what a great city, but it’s so cold there in the winter!”
. . . It’s true. It gets frigid. The midwesterners are knee deep in experience with cold weather as much as they are with the snow and icy winds blowing off of Lake Michigan. They know how to dress for it and while there are many options to choose from, we didn’t see a lot of places where we could get the type of alpaca clothing you find in the mountains of Peru where the alpaca wool comes from.
Traveling through the regions of Peru, we talked to producers of this very unique wool, in addition to the farmers and owners of the amazing and beautiful alpacas themselves! They are awesome creatures–some of God’s marvelous gifts to the Earth, the producers of the wool that is ranked as one of the warmest wools in the world!
In discovering, learning, searching and conversing with the experts, we are as clear as the brilliant blue skies and crisp cool air over the Peruvian Andes that alpaca wool is a must have in keeping extra warm in any cool climate–especially Chicago!
Please come back and visit, look around, shop and feel free to reach out to us at any time. We also have our products available on Etsy so don’t hesitate to check us out over there . . . www.shopalpakka.etsy.com !
Thank you and looking forward to sharing with you more products straight from Peru!
